Eyes on the Prize...
We’re often told to keep our eye on the prize. But who truly has the mental capacity to do that 24/7?
There is work, hobbies, friends, family… You know: life.
Some days you’re focused, motivated, and moving with purpose. Other days, you're just trying to make it through.
And both of those days are part of the journey.
You take a step forward, and then a couple of steps back.
At times, those steps forward are consistent and strong, with the odd step back. Then life gets a little louder. The setbacks become more frequent, the motivation fades, and suddenly that prize feels farther away than it did before.
And it sucks.
You question yourself. You wonder if you’ve lost your chance or if you’re simply not cut out for it.
And you know what? That’s okay.
Cry. Scream. Be frustrated that you haven’t stuck with things the way you hoped. Feel every emotion that comes with it—but don’t stay there. Don’t waste your energy living in regret. Let it out, learn from it, and then let it go.
The beauty of the prize is that it never disappears. It might not always be easy to see, but it’s still there. It was placed on your mind, your heart, and your spirit for a reason, and it will wait for you until you’re ready to keep going.
Progress isn’t always a straight line. Sometimes the greatest growth happens during the seasons that feel like you’re standing still.
So allow yourself to fail at times. Allow yourself to pause, reset, and begin again. Learn to be proud of every setback because each one teaches you something the easy moments never could.
And when you finally reach that prize, you won’t just celebrate the destination—you’ll celebrate every single step, stumble, detour, and comeback that made you into the person capable of getting there.
